Having just returned from cooking the opening night banquet at Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire, Ben and his team took Cornish produce on the road once again in September – this time to vie with other chefs from around the world who specialise in cooking over fire.
Described as a festival “of high quality, ethically sourced meat, all cooked over ethically sourced wood and charcoal by some of the world’s leading top chefs,” Meatopia is a hugely popular event in the heart of trendy East London.
Chefs travel from as far as South Africa, Argentina and Spain to take part, cooking signature dishes in taster sizes so that guests can graze their way through a succession of meaty courses.
Woodfired Canteen served (and sold out of!) smoke roast chicken thigh, grilled aubergine with chilli and mint, and chipotle raisins.
We love this event as it brings together so many like-minded chefs, all of whom are really passionate about what they do. It’s a chance to see new techniques in action, exchange ideas and plan future collaborations; we returned with plenty of ideas in the mix!
